PREDICTABLE PLOTTING

‘Luke Skywalker has vanished’ read the first words of the iconic yellow-text scroll in the opening scene of the movie. This itself is a sign not to expect anything new in the latest ‘Star Wars’ movie, ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’. The protagonist of the movie, Rey is wasting her life away on a desert planet until the arrival of a messenger droid, BB-8, which sets her on a mission to deliver a map with Luke Skywalker's whereabouts. Her male counterparts are this film's joint Leia surrogates: a pilot, Poe Dameron, who is taken prisoner by the First Order aka the Empire, and a rogue stormtrooper named Fin who frees him.
