Colombo District Court Judge Amali Ranaweera today ordered the Inspector General of Police to pay a compensation of Rs. 50,000 to Duminda Hapuarachchi, a commuter who was attacked by the police during the Fort Railway Workers strike.
Happuarachchi lodged a complaint Against the IGP and the Attorney General stating that he had to receive treatments from National Hospital for head injuries, caused by police assault in 22nd April, 2014.
Hapuarachchi serves as an Administrative Manager of Seylan Development Company
